Curated by Gaia Matisse and titled “Transcendence,” the first show of Maison Lune is focused on the concept of duality within our existence as human beings inhabiting the earth and living alongside nature.

The way we see the world depends on the duality of life — everything co-exists, connected and interdependent, yet we build our sense of self on what sets us apart. Amid the distractions of the modern world, we have grown disconnected from nature, from our collective origins, and from our instinctive intuitions.

Art offers a way back. As a contextualization of the human condition, it confronts the viewer with the "other" — the duality that exists within and outside each of us — and brings consciousness to the interconnectedness of life.

Transcendence presents works by artists who examine this duality: humans inhabiting the earth alongside nature. In calling attention to what seems different from us, the exhibition reveals how we are not so different after all — a new consciousness of our existence beyond the limitations of material experience.

Featuring works by Edson Fernandes, James Fischetti, Santiago Martinez Peral, Sophie Matisse, Bobbie Oliver, and Jeannie Weissglass.
